AKA Monograph Series on Leading and Managing the Kinesiology Department

The American Kinesiology Association (AKA) is offering member departments a free monograph series on leadership skills from some of the top academic leaders and scholars in the field. The papers in this series provide step-by-step guidance for those interested in learning new skills and strategies for managing and leading a Kinesiology Department. Individual papers focus on professional development opportunities for new and also experienced department chairs, and will help them address the increasing complexity of their roles. It has become increasingly clear that the accountability culture in higher education requires a complex set of skills for academic leaders if they are to be successful in an administrative position. If your department is not a member of AKA, you are able to purchase each monograph for $10. Click on the title of paper in the “Currently Available” section and you will be prompted to download the file (if you are the designated member for your department) or purchase a copy of the paper if your department is not a member.
