The American Council on Higher Education (ACE) has provided a statement, "On the Importance of Diversity in Higher Education" regarding why most colleges and universities believe that diversity in their faculty and student bodies is important for providing a quality education. The ACE speaks about the enrichment in learning, the challenges to stereotyped preconceptions, and the fostering of mutual respect that come from a racially and ethnically diverse campus.
